Today, every organization uses some or other e-mail client to communicate with each other. One common and popular e-mail client is MS Outlook which uses client’s disk space to store the data and provides offline access to its users. The offline data is stored in OST file in Outlook. OST files are Offline Storage Files that are replica of Microsoft Exchange database folders. But what will happen if the OST file gets corrupted? In such cases, you will not be able to access any of the data on Outlook and would require an OST to PST converter software.
It is very important for an OST file to synchronize with Exchange Server. However, at times, such situations occur in which OST file is unable to synchronize with Exchange Server. In such cases, your data in the OST file becomes inaccessible. Let us consider a real life scenario wherein you start Outlook on your computer and try to synchronize the OST file with Exchange Server. However, Outlook fails to synchronize the file and shows an error message that resembles to the following:
“Synchronization with the offline folder file could not be completed. Consult the synchronization log in the deleted items folder for details”
The reason for this error message can be any one of the following:
- Recreation of organizational forms library after deleting can cause this error message to occur. Usually, this happens because the object ID of organizational forms library before recreation and the ID of new organizational forms library are different. To avoid such issues, ensure that you have restarted Exchange Server after creating the new organizational forms library.
- In Outlook, Exchange Server requires an Eforms registry folder for offline address book generation. In case the Eforms Registry folder goes missing, Outlook will show an error message while synchronizing OST folder with Exchange Server. To fix this issue, you can use the Guidgen.exe tool and create a new system folder to replace the Eforms Registry.
After following the above mentioned measures, there are possibilities that you can face the same error message again. To solve this issue, you can use a third-party tool to convert OST to PST. These tools can help you to easily convert offline storage files to personal storage files. To select the best software, you can search the Internet and give a trial to some of the available software.
