I had just setup Windows XP on a laptop and wanted to install Dropbox, but unfortunately it never completed the installation process. Instead when I clicked on the Dropbox icon in the system tray, it had the error message “can’t establish a secure connection”. There wasn’t anything wrong with my internet connection, and it is secure.
I tried rebooting the computer and then reinstalling Dropbox, but still had the software installation problem. It was only when I realised my computer system date and time were wrong later on, that Dropbox then worked. Once the system date and time were set, I could complete the Dropbox application installation.
Dropbox is a fantastic service, so I’m glad the installation problem was resolved.
